The Aguayo is traditionally from the Andes region of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Peru. It is used to carry things or small children on the back.
This textile typically feature colourful stripes intercalated with rhombuses and other figures with symbolic values to the region.
In the past the aguayos were hand weaved with llama or sheep wool, and dyed with natural vibrant colours. Nowadays they are made with synthetic fibres and their fabrication is semi industrial.
