The lacquerware technique used in these trays is one of the oldest craft in Mexico. The trays are made following the traditional methods with vegetable colorants and paints, which are produced from chia, flax oils, quarts and cotton fibres.

A coat is applied to the piece, then dried completely. The second coat is put applied and while still wet, this layer is removed in places to reveal the first colour applied, and create abstract designs and figures such as animals.

These trays are elaborated by Mexican Artisan Daniel Ayala Nava, from Olinalá, Guerrero.

To preserve the beauty of your unique art piece, the recommended use is decoration, not for serving
