Tenangos are unique hand embroideries by the artisans from Tenango de Doria located in the Mexican state Hidalgo. Originally inspired from mythological creatures recorded by Otomi indigenous ancestors in caves located near San Nicolas municipality. The multi coloured figures are characteristic of this particular type of embroidery which uses crow’s foot stitch technique ensuring no thread wastage. The creation process is labour intensive and can take up to 3 months from beginning to end.
