The Chaguar is a native plant from the Chaco province of Argentina, it is similar to the aloe vera plant. Members of the Wichi tribe, a remote indigenous population, collect the chaguar plants to extract their fibers.

After a lengthy process, which includes degumming, drying and spinning, the durable threads are ready to be dyed with roots, leaves and tree bark. Mostly women are in charge of the handwoven stage, this traditional technique has been used to create bags, costumes, baskets and fishing rods.
